I graduated from Benton High School in 1988. I graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR, in 1992.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree. I am certified to teach grades 1-6.
I started teaching at Atkins Elementary School in 2012. I received my 5 year badge at the end of the year last year, so this will start my sixth year in Atkins. My first year in Atkins I taught 3rd grade. Then I moved up to 4th grade and have been there ever since! I currently teach math to all the 4th grade students.
As most of you know, I am married to Tommy Cody who is a football coach. We have been to lots of schools in Arkansas. I started my educational career as a Chapter 1 aide in DeWitt, AR. Then I got my first teaching job at Holy Rosary in Stuttgart, AR. I worked there for two years teaching 6th and 7th grades. After that I went back to DeWitt and taught 1st grade for three years. Next, we moved to Hampton, AR, where I taught 1st grade for one year and 2nd grade for two years. Then we moved to West Fork, AR, for one year. I taught 6th grade Science and Social Studies. After West Fork, we moved to Sheridan, AR, where I taught 6th grade math for seven years. Next we moved to Atkins. My first year in Atkins, I taught 6th grade math at Wonderview.
I am married to Tommy Cody, who is the Atkins football coach. We were high school sweethearts and got married after we both graduated from ASU in 1992. We have two children, Cole and Beau. Both boys go to school at Atkins. Cole is a senior and Beau is a freshman. We are the proud owners of two mutts, Carly and Boomer (the fieldhouse dog).
I don’t have a lot of spare time because of my boys. Cole plays golf and Beau plays everything else. I love to go and support all the Cody guys!! Between Coach Cody’s football games, Cole’s golf matches, and Beau’s everything else, I love to read! I also like to work Sudoku, crossword puzzles, etc.
